When it’s required
At Tier 1, the region the customer resides in decides whether they are asked for a document.
Proof of address is always required at Tier 2, for high-risk customers, and as part of the Enhanced Due Diligence set when a customer hits a spending limit. See Limits and minimums for the EDD triggers and the 24-hour window to submit documents.
Accepted documents
Identity documents are accepted as proof of address: passport, national ID card, residence permit, or driver’s license. The 3-month rule does not apply to them. All other documents must be issued within the last 3 months:- Utility bill (electricity, gas, internet, landline, water)
- Bank or credit card statement
- Tax invoice
- Mortgage statement
- Certificate of voter registration
- Signed, current lease agreement
- Employer’s certificate (payslips not accepted)
- Other government-issued residential document
Criteria
- Shows the customer’s full name and complete residential address (no PO boxes)
- Shows the issuing entity’s name and issue date
- Entire document visible, as an original photo or PDF
