To comply with financial regulations, MoonPay must verify the source of customer funds in certain situations.

Before your customer uploads a document

To avoid rejection and speed up verification, make sure the customer’s documents:
  • Are clear, complete, and unaltered (no cropping or editing)
  • Show all four corners and all relevant pages
  • Include the customer’s full name
  • Display a balance or financial value when required
  • Are recent (dated within the last 3 months unless otherwise specified)

Accepted documents by source

Why documents may be rejected

Documents are often rejected because key details are missing or unclear. Common causes:
  • Name not visible
  • Date outside the allowed timeframe
  • Missing financial values
  • Blurry or cropped pages
  • Pension statement issued annually but not within the past 12 months
  • Incomplete bank statements showing pension deposits
If a submission is rejected, review the acceptance criteria above and have the customer resubmit clearer, complete documents. If the customer is submitting pension-related documents, provide consecutive statements for irregular deposit periods (for example, mid-month to mid-month cycles) so all pension deposits are clearly shown.

Additional details

All submitted documents must:
  • Be unedited and unaltered
  • Display clear, readable information
  • Show the customer’s full name and, where relevant, address and financial transactions
  • Be recent and meet the date requirements listed in each section
