Standard Onboarding (USA, EEA, UK, AUS, Low Risk RoW)

  • Full name
  • Residential Address
  • Date of Birth
  • Nationality
  • Email
  • Phone
  • ID Document
  • Liveness check/Selfie (comparison of liveness vs image on passport or DL and verification of document)
Proof of Address (POA) - always required at Tier 1 for customers residing outside the USA, EEA, and UK, including Australia. For USA, EEA, and UK residents it’s conditional, and the triggers differ by region. Documents other than identity documents must be issued within the last 3 months. See Proof of Address for the region-by-region triggers and the accepted document list.SSN - required for US citizens or residents only

High Risk Jurisdiction Onboarding and EDD (Limit Increase)

All of the Standard Onboarding requirements plus Enhanced Due Diligence:
  • Approximate net worth
  • Industry
  • Source of Wealth proof: bank statements, payslips, sale proceeds, or another document from the accepted document list
  • Proof of address
Yearly Limit: Unlimited but subject to review
Exception flows automatically trigger EDD workflow for customers residing in high-risk jurisdictions or customers residing in medium-risk jurisdictions who are aged 67 years or older. When this happens, MoonPay Enterprise sets with_edd to true on the identification response automatically. See Tracking EDD Status for how to interpret this field.

Verification Standards

  • ID must be valid, readable, government-issued, and contain a person’s photograph
  • POA must be ≤ 3 months old
  • SoW proof must be one of the accepted documents in Source of Wealth
  • Liveness must match ID
  • Missing/inconsistent information may trigger additional review
